Story

Here are songs for dancing and daydreaming, relaxing and renewing. Songs about limits and limitlessness, songs of joy and of the journey. They’re definitely songs to sing along with—mostly written by me, but also some that I love by others, including my friends Mark Kelso and Linda Worster. You may see a lot of me in this album—and you may find a good deal of yourself as well. Mostly, I’m hoping you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it. Peace and blessings. -Bhavani

Lyrics

Ocean wash over me; ocean set me free
To be all that I can be—all that I am.
Ocean wash over me; ocean set me free
To be all that I can be—all that I am.

Ocean play with me; ocean help me see
Your depth is the depth of me—you are my mother.
Ocean bathe my soul; ocean know me as whole;
Cradle me soft as I go on my journey.

Ocean drink my tears; ocean soothe my fears;
Let me spend my years in your arms.
Ocean take my hand; ocean help me stand
In the truth I have deep inside me.

Ocean wash over me; ocean set me free
To be all that I can be—all that I am.
Ocean wash over me; ocean set me free
To be all that I can be—all that I am.

Lyrics

On rose-petal mornings I lie back and think of you,
Before I wend my way through the bright new day,
Weaving tapestries in every hue in harmony.
The mountain air is crisp and clean;
The fallen leaves no longer green.
And you are here—for you are everywhere I am.

In the crashing crowds of city streets I clearly hear your name,
As the dizzy day forgets its dawn,
Putting on its mask of scorn for games of fantasy.
Now playful children claim my mind,
I’m only here now, locked in time.
And you are here—for you are everywhere I am.

In the evening as I journey home, your laughter lights the sky;
I have paid the dying day its due;
Now the darkness needs the single eye of mystery.
As thoughts recede before the flame,
In crystal song I breathe your name.
And you are here—for you are everywhere I am.

Lyrics

The journey seems lonely, the road is so long.
There are places I falter; I can hardly go on.
But just at that moment a voice deep inside
Says “Keep coming home; I’m here by your side.
Keep coming home; I’m here by your side.”

And I soar like an eagle on wings swift and strong;
I see the light growing; I greet the new dawn.
I soar like an eagle, my wings swift and strong;
I see the light glowing; I greet the new dawn.

And now from this vantage I see where I’ve gone—
The places I faltered, the times I was strong.
And I see it was perfect and I now know inside
I never left home at all for you were always my guide.
I never really left home at all; you were always my guide.

And I soar like an eagle on wings swift and strong;
I feel the light growing; I feel a new dawn.
I soar like an eagle, my wings swift and strong;
I feel the light glowing; I feel a new dawn.

I soar like an eagle, my wings swift and strong;
I feel the light glowing; I greet the new dawn.

I am the light glowing, I am the new dawn.

Lyrics

Praise God for this brand new day;
It’s a day that I’ve earned
Through the lessons I’ve learned;
It’s a day I can use to do the best I can do;
It’s a day I can share with you
‘Cause it’s your day too.

So let’s take this brand new day
And give it away—
To those who aren’t sure
That each day dawns pure,
To any in need of a nourishing deed,
To help them to find their way
To their own new day.

Praise God for this brand new day;
It’s a day that I’ve earned
Through the lessons I’ve learned;
It’s a day I can use to do the best I can do;
It’s a day I can share with you
‘Cause it’s your day too.

Now let’s take this brand new day
And give it away,
Give it away,
Give it away,
Give it away,
Gi-i-ive it away.

Lyrics

Here, in the passing of each breath, I am;
Here, in your birth and in your death, I am;
Here, behind each passing fear,
Now, I am forever near—
Now, no matter how long you have slept, I am.

Here, in the burning of the fire, I am;
Here, at the heart of your desire, I am;
Here, behind each passing tear,
Now, I am singing strong and clear—
Now, even if you cannot hear, I am.

Now, in each moment of your life, I am;
Now, in the darkness and the light, I am;
Now, though the veil has seemed so strong
Here, I’ve been with you all along—
Here, beyond the end of time, I am.
I am, I am, I am, I am…

Lyrics

See me beautiful;
Look for the best in me;
It’s what I really am
And all I want to be.
It may take some time;
It may be hard to find—
But see me beautiful.

See me beautiful
Each and every day;
Could you take a chance—
Could you find a way
To see me shining through
In every thing I do—
And see me beautiful.

Story

Written to commemorate the reopening on January 22, 1994 of Centro de Aprendizaje de Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, the clinic of Raquel Benabib and my sister, Dr. Christine Nelson.

Lyrics

Vengan . . . vengan al
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
Centro de aprendizaje;
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
De integracion y gozo.

Come . . . come to the
Center of light, center of love,
Center of learning and change,
Center of light, center of love,
Center of wholeness and joy.

Together we journey through darkness and pain;
Together we learn, together we change;
Together we magnify the strengths of each other;
Together we find our way home.

Home to the
Center of light, center of love,
Center of learning and change,
Center of light, center of love,
Center of wholeness and joy.

We all, like children, are drawn to the flame
That purifies the soul again and again—
That frees the body and stills the mind,
That carries the spirit home.

Home to the
Center of light, center of love,
Center of learning and change,
Center of light, center of love,
Center of wholeness and joy.

Centro de luz, centro de amor,
Centro de aprendizaje;
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
De integracion y gozo.

COMPLETE LYRICS IN SPANISH
Vengan . . . vengan al
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
Centro de aprendizaje;
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
De integracion y gozo.

Juntos atravezamos la oscuridad y el dolor;
Juntos aprendemos y juntos cambiamos;
Juntos engrandecemos nuestras fortalezas,
Encontrando nuestra casa.

A la casa donde esta el
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
Centro de aprendizaje;

Centro de aprendizaje;
Centro de luz, centro de amor,
De integracion y gozo.

Lyrics

I am only me and I can only see
As much as anyone beside me;
And what I know as truth I have without a proof;
It’s just the things I find inside me.

So don’t call me wonderful, don’t call me wise;
Don’t say I’m a mystic maze—
Open up your eyes—don’t be surprised.

And if you come to be more than a friend to me,
You’ll see the dark as well as sunshine;
For what I share with you is what has seen me through
Days of pain and doubt and sorrow.

And then if you call me wonderful, then if you can call me wise,
You’ll know it’s yourself you see in me
Reflected in my eyes—
Then if you can call me wonderful, then if you call me wise,
You’ll know it’s just yourself you see in me
Reflected in my eyes—and there’ll be no surprise, no surprise.

Lyrics

Everyone I know wants peace on earth;
In our hearts, we are love.
Peace is at the center;
Love and peace are what we’re made of.

Feel the peace within;
Be love that reaches out.
Let it shine through dark and doubt—
Let it dance—let it be
Simply there as you and me.

Everyone I know needs tenderness;
At the core we are kind.
It hurts when we are otherwise;
Heaven is the light in your eyes.

Feel the peace within;
Be love that reaches out.
Let it shine through dark and doubt—
Let it dance—let it be
Simply there as you and me.

Lyrics

Take good care of our home;
It’s the only one we know of.
Maybe we’re out here alone;
Could this be the one place to learn love?
In a star dance she turns round the sun—
So fragile, she holds us as one,
And I tell you there’s no place to run now but home.

So take good care of our home;
It’s the only one we know of.
Maybe we’re out here alone;
Could this be the one place to learn to love?
Finally we’ve come to the place
Where our family’s the whole human race,
And nobody can make it by standing alone.

There’s no more time to deny who we are;
In the blink of an eye we can take things too far;
And this precious life we hold in our hands
Would be gone…could be gone.

So take good care of our home;
It’s the only one we know of.
Maybe we’re out here alone;
Could this be the one place to learn love?
In a star dance she turns round the sun—
So fragile, she holds us as one,
And I tell you there’s no place to run now but home.

Lyrics

Got a home in the mountains—
Oh, it’s so grand to see,
And I claim all the mountains
As far as I can see.

I go down to the valley where the world’s made from gold,
And I carry my mountain in the core of my soul.

Got a home in the mountains—
Oh, it’s so grand to see,
And I claim all the mountains
Surrounding me.

Folks who live in the valley say the mountains look down,
But I know that my mountain never looks toward the ground.
Mountains are made to reach for the sky;
Oh, they might never make it, but they’re sure gonna try.

Got a home in the mountains—
Oh, it’s so grand to see,
And I claim all the mountains
Surrounding me.

Some people are valleys and some are like hills,
But the people I care for know the mountains very well.

Got a home in the mountains—
Oh, it’s so grand to see,
And I claim all the mountains
As far as I can see.

Lyrics

We are traveling different roads,
Bur here in a corner of time,
Our dreams recede,
We’re just two people in need—
Two separate songs with one common rhyme.

But we’ve not offered promises
And we’ve not whispered “Why,”
So now that the time has come to part
There’s no need for goodbye.

You are off to solve the mysteries of the past
And I to climb a star to the future;
And though the world that I perceive
Is not a world you can believe,
Our dreams are really much the same.

But we’ve not offered promises
And we’ve not whispered “Why,”
So now that the time has come to part
There’s no need for goodbye.

Lyrics

CHORUS:
I think you’re wonderful! When somebody says that to me,
I feel wonderful—as wonderful can be.
It makes me want to say the same thing to somebody new…
And by the way I’ve been meaning to say:
I think you’re wonderful too.

When we practice this phrase in the most honest way
And find something special in someone each day,
We lift up the world one heart at a time—
It all starts by saying this one simple line…
CHORUS

When each one of us feels important inside,
Loving and giving and glad we’re alive,
Oh, what a difference we’ll make in each day—
And all because someone decided to say…
CHORUS

Breathing in, I calm my body;
Breathing out, I smile;
Dwelling in the present moment
I know this is a wonderful moment.
